With Spiegel im Spiegel, Side-Show presents the second part of its Trilogy of the Imagination. With the mirror as a central material, the company creates a powerful visual universe in which circus, dance, theatre and visual art come together in an attempt to undermine reality. The mirror restricts your viewing experience, but also gives you the freedom to determine your point of view of the optical illusion yourself. What is reflection, what is perception, what is reality? In that hall of mirrors, a tightly-knit collective strains every sinew to sustain the group.
It is high time that we nailed our colours to the mast. This is what Side-Show does, taken to the extreme … when their filmic surroundings work, the astonishing tableaus battle it out against one another.
